Our family group of 7 adults and 2 preschoolers (3 generations) found the Mango Bay property to be ideal for our family birthday celebrations! The heated swimming pool was perfect for swimming with the little ones between trips to the nearby beaches.
We arrived to St. John about 7:00 PM on a Sunday night and the Property Manager was so nice to meet us, wait for us to get out jeep and head to the house. She was very professional and gave us a full tour of the house even though it was pretty late on a Sunday. The house has "$20 MM" views of the BVIs - very, very affordable for the famous "North Shore" views. We had two adults and three kids - the house worked out perfect for our family. You really get the feel that you are in the rainforest of the National Park - unreal spot for the value! We would love to stay there again!
This was our second time to stay at Mango Bay. The house is still as lovely as ever. A previous reviewer had said the outside furniture was in poor condition, but we found it to be in excellent shape. It is all teak, and has the natural weathered look, but still very solid. The rest of the house is still immaculate. Other than losing power a couple of nights, late at night, we had no problems with the house. Just an FYI, the only cell service available up on that side of the island appears to be with AT&T. Neither Verizon or T-Mobile worked, except down in Cruz Bay. The view from the house everyday, and the wonderful breezes up there make everything else worth it.
We really enjoyed staying at this property. It was a perfect layout for families with older children, couples, or adult groups. I would NOT recommend for families with small children because of the separation of bedrooms to the inside common space. For us though it was nearly perfect. If the pool was heated, then it would be 100% but nothing wrong with 98% ;).
My wife and I booked this house with another couple for a week. It was our first trip to St. John and the 4th trip there for the other couple. We were all very pleased with the house and all figure that we will be booking it again for our next trip. The view is simply spectacular from just about anywhere on the property and the sleeping quarters were very comfortable. Our shower (we stayed in the room on the top floor) was probably my wife's favorite feature on the house. It was constructed of native rock and had two shower heads but the best part was the large screened window looking out over the bay......very peaceful. We never did cook a meal or spend much time at all in the kitchen/living area of the house though the kitchen is well equipped and the living room is a nice setting. The pool offered a nice change of pace to our group after several days of pushing hard to experience everything the island had to offer as it gave us an opportunity to relax and recharge a bit. We had a blast and will see y'all again next year!
This house was fabulous! The view was spectacular! It will be hard to find another view that compares. We stayed for the month and it was hard to leave. Very spacious and comfortable. This house might be hard for families traveling with younger kids because the rooms are all separate, but for everyone else, the house is perfect.
A superb house! Everything was fantastic.
Mango Bay was perfect for my family. We cooked dinner most nights and the kitchen was stocked well- we had everything we needed. The location was perfect as well. We would love to come back to Mango Bay!
